Our Environment, Social & Governance Policy.

Together, we can create a sustainable future. We recognise the profound impact that businesses have on our planet and society. Our commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance principles is at the core of our operations and strategic planning.

Pillar · E

Environment.

We pledge to minimise our ecological footprint by adopting sustainable practices, reducing emissions, and embracing green technologies. The advice we give clients on cloud, infrastructure, and operating models is increasingly the same advice we give ourselves: the most efficient system is also usually the most sustainable one.

Pillar · S

Social.

We strive to create a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. We prioritise the well-being and development of our employees, and we actively engage with the communities where we operate — aiming to make a positive impact through both our business activities and our pro-bono work.

Pillar · G

Governance.

Transparency, integrity, and accountability guide our governance. We adhere to the highest ethical standards, ensure compliance with all laws and regulations in every jurisdiction we operate, and foster a culture of honest and ethical behaviour — including the willingness to walk away from work that conflicts with that standard.

How we operationalise ESG

ESG is easy to publish and harder to live. We hold ourselves to it through a small number of specific operating commitments:

Environmental

  • Annual carbon disclosure aligned with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (Scope 1, 2, and 3 where measurable)
  • A travel-light delivery model — most of our work is delivered remotely, with on-site time used deliberately rather than by default
  • Cloud and infrastructure work that explicitly accounts for the carbon profile of the architecture, not only its cost and performance

Social

  • Equal-opportunity hiring with transparent compensation bands
  • A pro-bono mandate of at least 5% of senior-practitioner time, prioritised toward public-interest and not-for-profit programmes
  • Active investment in our people — DUO's Academy programmes are open to all employees, and learning time is contracted, not borrowed

Governance

  • Independent advisory board oversight of conduct and engagement quality
  • Conflicts-of-interest disclosure on every engagement, with a director-level escalation route
  • An independent integrity mailbox monitored outside the engagement chain — see our Values page
  • Annual modern slavery and anti-bribery statements published in line with UK Companies Act §54
"The most credible ESG commitment is the one your operations could not back away from without people noticing."

Reporting and transparency

We publish a short ESG report annually, with the underlying methodology made available on request. Where we set targets, we publish the variance against them — including the years we miss. The point of public reporting is to make us more accountable, not less. Our most recent report and methodology document are available from the press office.
